The book is really well researched and well written. The author translated from centuries old manuscripts to give us truly authentic recipes.
The recipes are arranged in groups according to which Emperor's table they graced. This also makes it a interesting history lesson on how the Mughal cuisine evolved from its Central Asian beginnings to incorporate different influences (Persian, Middle Eastern and South Asian) over time.
The numerous Mughal paintings make it a visually stunning book as well.
The World cookbook Award it received was certainly well-deserved! I would highly recommend this to anybody interested in good food---and as a gift it would be superb.

The story begins when a teenager, an Eagle Scout and West Point Prep School student, goes to Vietnam in 1965. Promoted to sergeant and then to lieutenant, Brennan participates in hundreds of assault landings.

Where do we find brave Americans like this? Also of interest was his last year ...

An exceptionally well written chronicle of a brave American's three years fightingf the war in Vietnam. I marveled at his recall of personal actions, never mentioning his journal or letters to home. His writings were of particular interest to me, as I also served with the !st Cav during the same time period and was familiar wiith the area of operations that he cites. Where do we find brave Americans like this? Also of interest was his last year in forging young men into effective combat soldiers from doubting Hippies, whose interest was geared more towards pot and indiference. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to know how it was to serve during an epic time of escalation in the war in Vietnam.

A Good Book About Air Cavalry In Vietnam

[Original] Rambling along from start to finish. Good, but nothing special. It is worth reading.

[Update 8/29/2015] Because of the comments to my review, I thought I'd take another look at the book since I wrote the review a couple months after I read the book. I decided to up the star rating by one to 4 Star. Why? 1). It's better than I remember it because I think I got it confused with another book I read during the same time period. 2) The author actually responded to my review. No many authors take the time. Shows he gives a darn what reviewers think and care enough to respond. His response had a dose of humor. Here is my updated review.

Mr Brennan is an author a cut above the usual for the war/combat genre. He does a good job of describing the point of view of the soldier in Vietnam. The descriptions of the hardships and danger of the air Cavalry are very good and by all accounts accurate. The book is technically sound from a writing standpoint. I'll make an effort to read more of his books.

Accurate portrial of life in the 1/9 CAV

I served with the 1/9 Air Cavalry in 1967 and 1968. Brennan's accounts are very accurate and describe the level of combat I experienced. When I went back on my second tour in 1969, like Brennan, I noticed a marked change in the caliber of soldiers fighting in Vietnam. More racial tension and a less than professional approach by many officers and NCOs. I've read many of Matthew Brennan's books but this one is mostly about his own experience and his bonding with the Blues of 1966 and 1967. I can identify with that feeling as we continue to attend reunions from the group of our era, 1967-68. I am glad he made it home and has given voice to many gallant soldiers that served with the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Airmobile.

I love the character development

I love the character development, the plot was flushed out but the kinky sex scenes were a little tame and rote in my opinion. If the author spent a tad more time polishing those parts of the story, it would be perfect!!!

Not What I Expected

When I bought this book, I expected to learn how to draw supports & resistances, and hopefully it'll include trenlines & channels.
I didn't get to learn that. There is also a basic tenet of this book that i cannot agree with. It tells readers that supports & resistances are not functions of supply and demand. It may not be in the economic terms but my view is that S&R are the results of supply and demand of the stock at the given prices.
What you'll find in this book are the basic definations for S&R, plus some explainations. You'll get the same for channels, gaps and the various triangle chart patterns. Swing trading is briefly touched upon, as well the dow theory.
I dont find this book telling me much about S&R that I don't already know. It is not a book for advanced traders. I don't think it is useful for beginners as well, any book that talks about technical analysis in general should be able to provide better details and explainations on everything this book touched on.

Well it does have some information that might be useful, but the writing is pretty bad. And the author does some strange things. Like harping (continuously) about how you cannot use Support and Resistance for intraday trading. Then he turns around and use intraday charts to show support and resistance examples. It all seems either thrown together or just poorly done.
