Must read for any nursing mom...

I loved this book because it was so nice to actually see someone write black on white that it is perfectly ok to want to continue nursing beyond 12 months and even during pregnancy. It also helped me overcome the weird feeling I always had when my in-laws and parents questioned my belief in child-led weaning. Read it! It's a wonderful book.

I want to burn this book. It was recommended to me by a lactation consultant. I just wanted some helpful tips to wean my 2.5 year old. I did not expect to be shamed for being a working mother and having any desires other than making sure my child does not suffer even the mildest upset. What a load of misogynist drivel.

A must have for longterm nursing moms!

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this book. I wasn't sure if this book would actually cover "older children", because my son will be 3 years old in just 2 months and he is still nursing with no end in sight. I have been torn whether or not to keep going or if I should just gently start the weaning process, and this book has really provided the information and insight that I needed to make that decision. It covers a lot of information on 1 and 2 year old nursers, but also has information (just not a TON, but enough) on 3, 4, 5 year olds...and even older, school-aged children that are nursing. This book is a must have for all mothers nursing toddlers and all mothers even considering it. Highly recommend!!!

Great for the stimulation of the intellect, imagination, and spirit.

It's a great book to read. Initially, you think that, as a children's book, you'll read through it in about two minutes. The truth is that it can captivate for a nice period of time and there are plenty of pictures to look at for the children to more easily imagine a sheep pasture.

There is a great biblical foundation to the story. In the story, the Mother lamb tells her children of the grandeur of God and explaining that it's okay to not fully understand things that are greater than yourself. It also introduces great ideas for rearing a child, teaching them to remember a guardian's teaching and instruction, as well as to be sensitive to their guardian's voice.

An excellent facet about the book, I think, is that the book isn't dumbed down. The vocabulary is not completely monosyllabic but it also isn't too far from the child's comprehension. In this way, it is intellectually stimulating.

Tom Waits is an American singer, songwriter, composer, and actor. Pianists Beware

Tom Waits' ballads are the gems of this compilation, but the piano parts in the transcriptions do not match the recordings. This would make sense where the piano was absent in the original version, as in much of the more raucous material...but the songs in which Waits sings over his own piano accompaniment (Whistle Down the Wind, Soldiers' Things etc.) should have been more faithfully rendered. Only a basic outline of the chord progressions is preserved, with sections missing in some cases. Fortunately, most of Waits' solo introductions are transcribed relatively faithfully. A competent pianist could reconstruct the parts by studying the recordings, but I'm disappointed at what seems to be laziness on the part of the publisher in producing accurate transcriptions.

Great songs, bad transcriptions

The compilation of songs represented in this book is amazing - all the best of Waits's golden years, you've got to love his art. But the transcription stinks: terrible, over-simplified arrangements for piano. All the funky pieces sound lame, and the only ones that work are the few simple, originally piano-driven slow songs like Innocent When You Dream. It's a lost opportunity that the book was done this way, a talented musician with vision and style could have made good adaptations of these brilliant songs.
